This comic is dedicated to my husband ๐Ÿฅฐ his birthday is today so me and Betsy decided to add some humor for his special day. My husband is a bit camera shy, but he didn’t mind me drawing him ๐Ÿ˜‚

Why Betsy rarely wears makeup

Betsy tried a popular brand of cream blush. But she ended up overdoing it ๐Ÿ˜… maybe next time, Betsy. One day, you’ll achieve your perfect rosy glow.

This post was inspired by a real life event. And sometimes, my husband reminds me and pokes fun of the situation ๐Ÿคฃ

In case if you haven’t seen my Instagram stories and my tweets, I usually talk about how much I adore Glossier. Note that this blog post isn’t sponsored by them. I simply love their products because they work well for me.ย

One Sunday morning, I woke up late and I was in a rush to get dressed to go out grocery shopping. Luckily, I’ve already simplified my makeup routine because my focus has been on skincare. I’m a believer on the “less is more” philosophy. Anyways, I had samples from Glossier to try out their Cloud Paint (in shade Dawn). I didn’t realize they gave a generous amount of the Cloud Paint. So when I applied it on my cheeks, it ended up making it super orange. Totally my fault because (1) I wasn’t wearing glasses and (2) I was super groggy.

When my husband saw that I was struggling to wipe off the excess, he couldn’t help but laugh. Then he noted, “You really do look like Betsy struggling with her plushy mittens on wiping away the blush.” And that’s where the idea of this comic came from ๐Ÿ˜…ย Overall, I rarely worry about looking overdone with Glossier since their products makes me look put together and confident to face the day ahead.

Some of my collection from Glossier.ย

On the bright side – I had the pleasure in visiting the Glossier flagship store in NYC a couple of weeks ago. Truly worth the experience and wait if you want to check out their products. Also, their decor is super cute.

If you’ve been on the fence in trying out Glossier, you can use my link here to take 10% off your first purchase.

Do you use Glossier? Have you ever had any makeup blunders when getting ready to go out? Let me know in the comments below!

A (Not So Simple) Trip To The Local Craft Store

Betsy tried her hardest when she visited the local craft store to buy some yarn ๐Ÿงถ She wanted to make a simple scarf for her Mister but she ended up buying more than needed.

Webcomic created with Procreate app.

Happy Friday, friends! Took the day off from work for a medical visit. The little one needed his flu shot and a haircut just before school starts. Here’s to hoping for a smooth transition and more time for me to work on my illustrations and programming on all things Betsy related ๐Ÿฎ Did a simple prayer and tarot reading while writing down my intentions on what I would like to achieve during the New Moon in Virgo phase. My Moon in Virgo is feeling this so that explains the need for a more productive day, I guess.

Speaking of projects…I finally got back into loom knitting after putting it off for some time (i.e motherhood and job). Now that things are winding down for a bit, I figured it would be great to work on a blanket for my Pillow Pet Cow. And yes, for the kid as well ๐Ÿ˜› the cold season is approaching so might as well be prepared.

If there’s one thing I know about going to Michaels, it can be heaven to my creative soul but hell on my wallet. It’s even worse when you are a frequent customer at the establishment (as noted in my tweet below):

I bought some yarns that are from Yarinspirations Caron x Pantone brand. I’m also getting a knitting machine in the mail that I hope to use when making scarves and hats in bulk.

I used to crochet, but I find that keeping the stitches straight has been a challenge. Even in making simple dolls was hard on my coordination. The only time I would use crochet is if I’ll do some simple finishing designs at the end of my work or just bind pieces together with the leftover yarn.

Do you happen to knit / crochet? Ever felt tempted to buy almost every single product at your local craft store? Let me know in the comments below ๐Ÿ’ญ

The Secret Life

Many coworkers at her job have wondered how Betsy remains udderly zen during work hours. She rarely complains and is always helpful towards others.

One day, a coworker asked during her lunch break. “Betsy, what’s the secret to remaining calm?”

“Oh…I just work out on a frenzy during my weekends,” Betsy replied nonchalantly.

To this day, no one suspected Betsy as the type to enter in mosh pits during heavy metal concerts.

I love music. But if there’s one genre I’ll listen to forever, it is heavy metal. As odd as it sounds, it keeps me focused and zen. Probably with the high energy factors in most of the songs. Who knows how my brain works.

Speaking of high energy, I went to see Papa Roach, Bad Wolves and Asking Alexandria perform at The Rooftop in Pier 17 on August 11, 2019. I was fortunate to see the email from Spotify a week before the event when it was announced that Papa Roach will be performing in NYC as they’re promoting their new album Who Do You Trust.

The atmosphere was really great. It’s been ages since I visited South Street Seaport with my husband. So it was a nostalgic experience for the both of us when we saw the area newly renovated after it was hit by Hurricane Sandy.

We paid for the lounge upgrade and chilled out for a bit while we waited for the concert to start. Food wise, we tried out their sliders which were yummy. Highly recommend the lobster roll. I was stoked to see Tommy Vext (lead singer of Bad Wolves) up close as he was walking up to the concert area. After Bad Wolves performed, it was Asking Alexandria and then the main event, Papa Roach. Definitely worth the experience and a great way to end the weekend on a good note before heading back to work.ย 1BA0764D-E0B9-4FC8-A1BE-153827578EB9

One of my goals in life is to visit more heavy metal concerts. Maybe this year and next, it’ll happen more. Let’s see where life takes me.

Hope you’re having a fantastic Wednesday! Let me know in the comments if you’re a heavy metal fan.

Sing your heart out

IMG_1256
Betsy is hoping to belt out some tunes for her future karaoke trip. Think she’ll have a chance? ๐Ÿค”

Hi friends ๐Ÿ‘‹ happy August! Can’t believe we are four months away until the end of the year! Time flies when you’re drawing Betsy and having fun ๐Ÿ˜…

The last time I remember singing was through the Smule karaoke app. It was really nice to see some of my favorite rock songs that I could belt out to when I was feeling down. Unfortunately, my son has this habit of telling me to keep quiet whenever I attempt to sing my favorite tunes out loud. Hence, this is why I prefer singing in the car. Maybe when my son starts Pre-K, I’ll get back on Smule and belt out some tunes while he’s at school.

Do you happen to sing? If so, what are your favorite go-to songs? Let me know in the comments below.

Betsyโ€™s Sanctuary

It’s not everyday you see a cow sitting comfortably reading a book.

In Betsy’s case, her collection of books are the ideal entertainment for when she feels like escaping from reality. With so many worlds to explore, Betsy always felt amused and excited with each page turned.

Ahh…books. Glorious, precious books.

Regardless of genre, I find books to be a source of happiness and comfort for when days become stressful or if I needed a moment of solitude.

Growing up, I’ve spent my time lounging around at my local Brooklyn Public Library. Usually after school, I would take a walk to my local library and borrow some romance and thriller literature to occupy myself once I was finished with my homework (Sweet Valley High were my guilty pleasure book series ๐Ÿ˜…).

I didn’t have a lot of friends back then, so having books near me was my own little piece of heaven. I found myself lugging more books, which was an acceptable form of baggage for me to carry rather than participate in nonsensical high school drama ๐Ÿ™ƒ. At least reading books kept me out of trouble, for the most part.

As I’ve gotten older (and silently thanking technology for the creation of the Internet), I found myself hoarding even more books, this time in a digital format. Still, nothing beats like the actual physical copy of a book. The scent, touch, the presentation, etc…

I remember visiting City Lights Books during my trip to San Francisco on a whim as I’ve discovered it was not too far off from where I’ve stayed.

You can imagine my excitement where I was able to stroll around for an hour in checking out the shelves and being immersed by the plethora of books that were hanging around the walls. Highly recommend this book shop, by the way ๐Ÿ˜Š

At the moment, I still have a couple of books I’m currently reading.

What are your favourite books? Let me know in the comments below ๐Ÿ’ญ
