Before vs After 30 Years Old

Oh Betsy…you’re made of fluff, not bones 🤦🏻‍♀️ no wonder Missy doesn’t believe you.

When you don’t eat while using tarot cards

Betsy learned pretty quickly that she shouldn’t do tarot readings on an empty stomach.

Happy Friday, friends 👋 hope you’re doing fantastic! I decided to do the webcomic a bit differently. Let me know what you think!

I usually try to eat a full meal before conducting readings. Being hangry while performing a tarot reading is not a fun thing to do.

On the flip side of things – I’m currently working on a secret project that I’m hoping to announce by the end of this year. It’s something that holds dear to my heart and I’m hoping to share this joy with y’all.

I will keep you posted when everything is finalized. Until then, stay udderly awesome!

When your package is out for delivery

Betsy likes to order packages online. It saves her the trip from walking to her local craft store. Sometimes, the local mail carrier gets fed up with Betsy’s overspending habits and ends up keeping the package in the truck 😕

Ordering items online can be a hit or miss. And I suspect that my local post office is fed up with my orders coming in on a daily basis. Hey, I’m trying to save on gas instead of driving to and from the grocery store when buying items in bulk at home 😑

I know there’s some good mail carriers out there who are friendly. But goodness, there are some who just don’t want to do the work. As we’re gearing towards the holiday season, online stores are gearing up for the shopping rush. I see myself spending less during the colder weather (with the exception of food). Because you know, survival reasons.

I think one of my “fondest” (note my sarcasm in quotes) memory on a mail delivery mishap was when years ago, I was looking to make aromatherapy sprays for myself and family / friends. I probably paid around $20 for the amber glass spray bottles and essential oils to arrive within the same day via Amazon. Usually with same day delivery shipping, it’s automatically sent via Lasership. I saw the package was out for delivery for about an hour. Eventually, I received an alert on my phone saying it was delivered. I said to myself, Great! I can finally work on my aromatherapy sprays and save myself money from buying premixed sprays.

Except…it was never delivered.

*plays Law & Order theme music*

After checking the areas in front of my home to see where my package went, I decided to contact the local Lasership base in New York. What should’ve taken less than 10 minutes ended up being the most awkward 45 minutes of my conversation between the representative and the manager of the place:

Me: “Hello, I noticed that the tracking number [reads off number over the phone] shows to be delivered but I never received the package.

Agent: “Um…ok. So sorry about it. It shows that it was delivered to the correct address.”

Me: “If it was, then I would have the package in my possession. Is there a way to get in touch with the driver?”

Agent: “He’s out for the day. He did send us a picture that it was delivered to your address.”

Me: “Strange. As I mentioned, it was not there when I checked my mailbox.”

Agent: [puts me on pause for 5 minutes; resumes chat] “Ok, the driver said it was there at the door.”

Me: “Nope. Not there.”

Agent: [puts me on pause for another 5 minutes; resumes chat] “Ok, the driver is saying that it’s near the door where the garbage can is located.”

Me: “…Nope. Did the driver forget where he delivered?”

[a brief pause]

Agent: “Let me connect you with my manager. Please hold.”

[after waiting 7 minutes]

Manager: “Hi there, I’m sorry that you didn’t receive your package. I want to make sure that we understand your situation carefully. So, just to confirm, you didn’t see it around your house?”

Me: “Yes, that’s correct.”

Manager: [briefly pauses, then speaks] “Well…I’m looking at the picture that our driver showed us. That’s a nice house you have here. Really nice house.”

Me: “Thanks, but that still doesn’t answer my question as to where the package went.”

Manager: [nervously laughs] “Well, I think you may have not looked carefully. After all, it’s a large house. You should’ve seen it in front  of the door.”

Me [feeling frustrated]: “Look, I already said this before with the agent. There is no package. My good guess is that right after the driver took the picture of the package, your driver ended up taking my order and placed it back in its car.”

Manager: [quickly becoming defensive]: “Sorry but that’s not true. Our driver made sure it was delivered.”

Me: “I’m not sure why you’re getting upset when I’m pointing this scenario out. If the driver really took the package, then I hope your driver is all right in learning how to create aromatherapy sprays for witchcraft purposes.”

Manager: [hangs up the phone].

And there you have it, folks. Luckily, I was able to let Amazon know about this experience and they were pretty quick to refund my purchase.

Got any stories you want to share about your experiences with your local mail carriers? Let me know in the comments!

A (Not So Simple) Trip To The Local Craft Store

Betsy tried her hardest when she visited the local craft store to buy some yarn 🧶 She wanted to make a simple scarf for her Mister but she ended up buying more than needed.

Webcomic created with Procreate app.

Happy Friday, friends! Took the day off from work for a medical visit. The little one needed his flu shot and a haircut just before school starts. Here’s to hoping for a smooth transition and more time for me to work on my illustrations and programming on all things Betsy related 🐮 Did a simple prayer and tarot reading while writing down my intentions on what I would like to achieve during the New Moon in Virgo phase. My Moon in Virgo is feeling this so that explains the need for a more productive day, I guess.

Speaking of projects…I finally got back into loom knitting after putting it off for some time (i.e motherhood and job). Now that things are winding down for a bit, I figured it would be great to work on a blanket for my Pillow Pet Cow. And yes, for the kid as well 😛 the cold season is approaching so might as well be prepared.

If there’s one thing I know about going to Michaels, it can be heaven to my creative soul but hell on my wallet. It’s even worse when you are a frequent customer at the establishment (as noted in my tweet below):

I bought some yarns that are from Yarinspirations Caron x Pantone brand. I’m also getting a knitting machine in the mail that I hope to use when making scarves and hats in bulk.

I used to crochet, but I find that keeping the stitches straight has been a challenge. Even in making simple dolls was hard on my coordination. The only time I would use crochet is if I’ll do some simple finishing designs at the end of my work or just bind pieces together with the leftover yarn.

Do you happen to knit / crochet? Ever felt tempted to buy almost every single product at your local craft store? Let me know in the comments below 💭

The Secret Life

Many coworkers at her job have wondered how Betsy remains udderly zen during work hours. She rarely complains and is always helpful towards others.

One day, a coworker asked during her lunch break. “Betsy, what’s the secret to remaining calm?”

“Oh…I just work out on a frenzy during my weekends,” Betsy replied nonchalantly.

To this day, no one suspected Betsy as the type to enter in mosh pits during heavy metal concerts.

I love music. But if there’s one genre I’ll listen to forever, it is heavy metal. As odd as it sounds, it keeps me focused and zen. Probably with the high energy factors in most of the songs. Who knows how my brain works.

Speaking of high energy, I went to see Papa Roach, Bad Wolves and Asking Alexandria perform at The Rooftop in Pier 17 on August 11, 2019. I was fortunate to see the email from Spotify a week before the event when it was announced that Papa Roach will be performing in NYC as they’re promoting their new album Who Do You Trust.

The atmosphere was really great. It’s been ages since I visited South Street Seaport with my husband. So it was a nostalgic experience for the both of us when we saw the area newly renovated after it was hit by Hurricane Sandy.

We paid for the lounge upgrade and chilled out for a bit while we waited for the concert to start. Food wise, we tried out their sliders which were yummy. Highly recommend the lobster roll. I was stoked to see Tommy Vext (lead singer of Bad Wolves) up close as he was walking up to the concert area. After Bad Wolves performed, it was Asking Alexandria and then the main event, Papa Roach. Definitely worth the experience and a great way to end the weekend on a good note before heading back to work. 1BA0764D-E0B9-4FC8-A1BE-153827578EB9

One of my goals in life is to visit more heavy metal concerts. Maybe this year and next, it’ll happen more. Let’s see where life takes me.

Hope you’re having a fantastic Wednesday! Let me know in the comments if you’re a heavy metal fan.
